Control Panel’s Options In Windows XP

First of all I was inspired in writing this article by another article created on practicallynetworked.com, only that this article that I will create today is made entirely by myself, thanks to the options that are available in my Microsoft Windows XP system, that I still use. I have written an article before, related to the Windows XP network protocols and I have taken some information from the site that I have just mentioned. This is not the case with this current article, where all information that will appear come from my own operating system.

I want to present what are the options when you go to Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections. The options are as follows (there are only 5 options): you can set or change your Internet connection (we will not deal with this in this article, because who knows if you will not cause some damages; first I would like to be sure that you understand the options and you use the correct ones), you can create a connection to the network at your workplace, if the connection that you use is not provided by the Internet, because the Internet is a very wide network that can be accessed from any place in the world, as long as you have an Internet connection, you can set up or change the home or small office network (only if you're good at this), set up a Wireless network that will be used in your home, as long as you are an individual or a home user or for your small office and you can change the Windows firewall settings.

I don't recommend to change the firewall settings unless you want to download something from a CD/DVD that comes from a known source and that contains only that program that you want to download, not other programs, such as malware or spyware programs. These 5 options that I have presented are also known as tasks; when you work in the Network and Internet Connections area, you can also pick a Control Panel icon if you want to move forward. The icons that are represented that are: Bluetooth devices, network connections, Windows firewall, Internet options, network setup wizard, Wireless network setup wizard.

If you click on the network connections, you will see the available broadband, LANor high-speed Internet connections. You can create a new connection, set up a home or small office network and change your Windows firewall settings, all from the same window. If you have problems with your network connection, you can go to Network Troubleshooter, although I would recommend to discuss with the Internet provider first.
